What's different about NaProTechnology?
NaProTechnology is a relatively new women's reproductive health ideology. When Dr. Hilgers was standardizing the Creighton Model FertilityCare System, he realized that women with a variety of gynecological issues oftentimes saw similar biomarkers on their charts. As a result of further standardization, this information can be used by specially trained physicians to proactively diagnose and help treat a variety of conditions, ranging from low progesterone to polycystic ovaries. NaProTechnology also uses Creighton Model charts to customize treatments for each woman's particular body.
This is good news both for women who are struggling with infertility and those with health issues. NaProTechnology (which stands for Natural Procreative Technology) treats each woman's body uniquely and seeks to solve her particular underlying issues so that she can have normally functioning reproductive health. While in vitro fertilization (IVF) treats pregnancy as the end goal at any cost, the approach of NaProTechnology is to have a body in which healthy fertility is the goal, with greater success rates than IVF.
Similarly, physicians trained in NaProTechnology do not prescribe artificial contraception to cover up issues such as painful periods, heavy periods, or cycle irregularities. They work with women to make informed decisions about their bodies and then solve underlying issues to have healthy cycles. Oftentimes this is a breath of fresh air for women who are constantly told that hormonal contraception is their only solution to common gynecological problems.
Beginning to chart your cycles with a Creighton Model Practitioner is the first step to utilizing this holistic and natural approach.
